RIDERNCIDER

How about an awesome electric mountain bike ride up and around Red Hill and Merricks followed by a delicious lunch or dinner. Well this is what this tour consists of!

We start our tour from the Old Apple Shed in Main Ridge, which offers the Mornington Peninsula's widest range of Wine, Cider and Ginger Beer. Once kitted out with your bike and all of the necessary equipment and following a brief 'getting to know your bike session' we head out onto our adventure.

The first stage of our ride we immediately hit a gentle single track on Mornington-Flinders Road of around 2km’s, which is nothing our superb e-bikes can’t handle. At the top, we head right onto Arthurs Seat Road and head down towards the Epicurean in Red Hill.

This section of single track has a variety of terrain including uphill, downhill, gravel, dirt and bitumen. Be sure to take a breather or two to take in the spectacular views of Port Phillip Bay and surrounding vineyards.

Once on Merricks trail, the track opens onto what used to be the original railway easement. A gentle descent takes us through a magnificent pine treed section popular with walkers, hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders. When you experience the natural beauty of the trail it is not difficult to see why it is so popular.

At the end of this section we reach Tonkins Rd and take a sharp right where we get to experience the true power of the Trek E-Bikes. Our first steep uphill section will be a breeze as you switch to turbo power and blast with relative ease to the top before gliding past another vineyard and descending gently for approx. 2km taking in spectacular views over Western Port towards Phillip Island and The Nobbies.

We continue on to the end of the Merricks Trail to our mid-point pit stop, The Veranda, for a well earned coffee break before jumping back on the bikes to do the whole trail again but in reverse.

Once we reach our final destination, the Old Apple Shed, a delicious meal awaits for those that want to take advantage of the great food and beverages available. (Old Apple Shed)
