How about an awesome electric mountain bike ride up and around Arthurs Seat followed by a delicious pub lunch or dinner. Well this is what this tour consists of!
We start our tour from the ‘Pig and Whistle’, which is a traditional style English pub located in Main Ridge on the Mornington Peninsula. Once kitted out with your bike and all of the necessary equipment and following a brief 'getting to know your bike session' we head out onto our adventure.
The first stage of our ride we immediately hit a gentle sloping uphill section of single track of around 3km’s, which is nothing our superb e-bikes can’t handle.
We cruise on up to Arthur’s Seat and connect onto our Merricks tour which takes us down a nice little downhill section of dirt road, Pindara Road, before crossing Arthur's Seat Road and onto the single track which leads us all the way to the head of the Merricks Trail just behind the Epicurean restaurant.
This section of single track has a variety of terrain including uphill, downhill, gravel, dirt and some technical sections with tree roots and small rocks to navigate. Whether you are a complete novice or a more experienced mountain biker you will be well supported by our guides to seek out the right amount of adrenaline just for you. Be sure to take a breather or two to take in the spectacular views of Port Phillip Bay and surrounding vineyards.
Once on Merricks trail, the track opens onto what used to be the original railway easement. A gentle descent takes us through a magnificent pine treed section popular with walkers, hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders. When you experience the natural beauty of the trail it is not difficult to see why it is so popular.
At the end of this section we reach Tonkins Rd and take a sharp right where we get to experience the true power of the Trek E-Bikes. Our first steep uphill section will be a breeze as you switch to turbo power and blast with relative ease to the top before gliding past another vineyard and descending gently for approx. 2km taking in spectacular views over Western Port towards Phillip Island and The Nobbies.
We continue on to the end of the Merricks Trail to our mid-point pit stop, The Veranda, for a well earned coffee break before jumping back on the bikes to do the whole trail again but in reverse.
Once we reach our final destination, the Pig and Whistle, a delicious meal awaits for those that want to take advantage of the great food and beverages. (Pig and Whistle Website)
